For owners of independent UK recruitment businesses with 2 to 50 consultants who are tired of AI noise and want real outcomes.

AI that adds fees and margin to your recruitment business,
not more tools.

The RecruitmentAI Framework has one aim: to improve the bottom line of independent recruitment businesses.

If we can’t improve your bottom line, we won’t take you on.

The AI execution gap

Do you feel you have yet to take full advantage of AI in your recruitment business?

You know AI should be making your business more money.

But right now, you’re probably somewhere in the AI execution gap.

01

You already have AI tools, but so many recruitment products make similar promises that working out what is actually useful has become a job in itself.

02

You’ve also got your own CRM, systems, integrations and workflows. Another standalone AI product needs to work with all of them. And who knows what your CRM provider or Microsoft is about to release next?

03

You want to do more with AI, but you’re understandably reluctant to spend heavily on a bespoke build while the technology is changing so quickly.

Sound familiar?

  • CRM AI features that nobody on the team uses.
  • ChatGPT or Copilot licences with no clear return.
  • An AI course that was interesting but changed nothing on the desk.
  • A tool bought on a good demo that never paid for itself.
  • Paid-for ‘AI’ systems still run mostly by hand, adding nothing to fees.

You can see the potential. You just don’t want to waste money on the wrong thing.

The recruitment problem comes first

Recruitment needs AI that fixes your real problems

The recruitment AI market is noisy. There’s always another product promising to automate sourcing, improve candidate engagement or write better messages.

But adding another tool to an already fragmented recruitment tech stack doesn’t necessarily make your business more money.

And should you really need to understand the differences between Claude and ChatGPT’s agentic capabilities to run a successful recruitment company?

The RecruitmentAI Framework

Start with the recruitment problem.
Then decide where AI belongs.

The sensible way to use AI to your advantage isn’t to adopt it for the sake of it. It’s to point it at the things that make your recruitment business money.

Start by diagnosing how the business makes its fees today.

01

Find where revenue is leaking.

Where are fees being lost or left on the table? Which candidates go unplaced, which clients go quiet, and which leads never get followed up? Where is time that should go on billing work being spent on everything else?

02

Decide what is worth fixing.

Not every problem needs an AI solution.

Work out which changes could genuinely add fees, protect margin, increase sales activity or let you grow without adding headcount.

03

Empower and connect.

Often the answer is already in the software you pay for. Your team just needs the training and confidence to use it on the work that makes money.

Sometimes it’s about connecting the systems you already run, so information flows straight through instead of being moved by hand.

And when your people want to build their own AI tools, we mentor and train them to take those tools from experiment to something that’s live and paying back.

The important part is making each decision on the return it will bring, not on the latest AI demo.

04

Build AI into how you make money.

The goal isn’t another login your consultants have to remember.

It’s a straight-through process where AI, your CRM, integrations and existing recruitment workflows work together, so more of your consultants’ day turns into fees.

Get those decisions right and AI becomes far less complicated:

  • Consultants spend more of their day on work that bills.
  • More placements and more fees from the clients and candidates you already have.
  • Higher margin, without unnecessary hiring or costs.
  • Every AI spend has to show a return.

Most importantly, you can make decisions about AI with confidence, knowing what each one adds to your bottom line, rather than wondering whether you’re falling behind.

Rob McLeod

CEO

We’ve done it from the inside.

Rob has run recruitment teams and operations, and led AI and technology projects inside the business. He knows why most AI tools sit unused, and how to get your consultants using AI in ways that make money.

Paul Wheeler15 years in recruitment

Paul Wheeler

Chief Technology Officer

A CTO who ran the operation, not just the tech.

Paul was given control of every operations department, because the business ran on its technology. He builds AI that changes how the work gets done, which is how it ends up on your bottom line.

Rob McLeod has 25 years’ experience in recruitment, latterly as a director of a multi-million pound recruitment business. Paul Wheeler has 15 years’ experience as Chief Technology Officer of a multi-million pound recruitment business. Between them, that’s 40 years of managing technology change across hundreds of consultants, building CRMs, integrations and complete recruitment platforms, and running multimillion-pound P&Ls.

They deliver Level 5 apprenticeship training in AI and build with AI every day.

Four ways we work with your business

Use any one of them, or combine them. Start wherever you need us most.

  • Diagnose: a free half-day deep dive

If we think we can help you make more money, we look at your AI, systems and workflows and give you a written report on the opportunities to add fees and margin.

  • Advise: one-to-one advisory

Senior one-to-one advice when you need it, so you know which AI tools are worth paying for, where to start and what will actually add fees and margin.

  • Empower: training and mentorship

Training built around your consultants’ own desks and live roles, and one-to-one mentorship with Paul for people building their own AI tools.

  • Build: led by Paul, our CTO

AI tools and integrations built around the CRM and systems you already run, only when the business case in fees and margin is clear.

Ambient People

Understanding where we are and what we can do

We assessed Ambient People’s approach to AI and identified opportunities to improve revenue and profitability while preserving the client and candidate relationships at the heart of its service.

“We used Rob and Paul to assess where we were at with AI. The human relationships we have with our candidates and clients is our IP so we do not want to adopt AI and erode that in any way. Rob and Paul were able to identify how we worked and where we could increase our bottom line and revenue without compromising our service level to clients.”

Talent Forte

Connecting AI to the recruitment workflow

Following an initial deep dive, we advised Talent Forte to adopt a new CRM and phone system, then built simple integrations between them.

We’re now building an AI agent platform on its CRM, covering screening, business development, compliance and payroll hand-offs, and call transcription, each aimed at adding revenue and profit.

“I work with Paul and Rob because they know recruitment and know what I am trying to achieve with AI. I am extremely excited with what they have done. They have already increased my bottom line.”

Mota

A complete AI-powered recruitment platform for the VFX industry

Mota is a specialist recruitment business serving the VFX industry. Paul advises and builds as their fractional CTO, and built the platform behind it.

Studios use it to win work and then staff it with vetted crew. Filmmakers use its data to choose VFX vendors and tax regions. Crew are matched to roles instead of hunting for them.

It serves five user groups plus Mota’s own team, and runs on computer and phone, live with real users.

“It is remarkable what Paul and the team have built, it simply would not have been possible without his AI skills”

Fred & Co Recruitment

The back office, built to make money

Fred & Co Recruitment is a specialist technology recruitment business. Paul built the systems it runs on: a full payroll function, a CRM and a website.

Payroll, client and candidate records and the firm’s public face now sit on systems designed around how a recruitment business earns its fees. That means a back office built to protect margin and support growth, not one the founder has to work around.

“Paul built our payroll, our CRM and our website, the whole engine behind the business. He understood how a recruitment business makes its money and built everything around that. It has made a real difference to our bottom line.”
